11 Scariest Final Shots In Thriller Movie History

3. Enemy

Denis Villeneuve has made plenty of disturbing movies in his career, but none boast a jump scare quite as effective as the ending of Enemy. The entire movie is about Jake Gyllenhaal's Adam interacting with his doppelganger, but in the background the imagery of the spider is constantly glimpsed, repeatedly showing up to symbolise something better left discussed inside a film class.

The motif is usually used to unnerve rather than outright scare - until the final scene anyway. After suffering through a sinister wife swap, Adam walks into the bedroom of his doppelganger's wife, only to find she's transformed into a gigantic spider that scurries up the wall.

Arachnophobe or not, you're going to need a change of pants after this.

With the surprise barely registering, the film closes on Adam's horrified face, leaving the audience in shock and wondering WTF he's just scene.
