11 Shameless Movies That Were Just Rip Offs Of Classic Films

1. Prince Of Persia: The Sands Of Time = The Lion King

LK Now obviously The Lion King is a child adaptation of Hamlet (which makes The Lion King 3 Rosencrantz And Guildenstern Are Dead), but the nadir of Disney€™s nineties resurgence has proven so influential that some of the companies recent films seem to want to flat out copy them. Now this is one I didn't notice until it was pointed out to me much after I saw Disney€™ flop for 2010 (a tradition they seem to be desperate to keep up with John Carter and The Lone Ranger), but is impossible to shake once it had been. We have a story of royals in an far off, exotic kingdom that doesn't have a sensible hierarchy. The prince is framed for the murder of the king and has to go into exile while his uncle, a dastardly fellow who looks so clearly evil although no one seems to realise, the true killer, takes the throne. And before returning with a love interest to save the day, the hero even spends some time with some zany characters. And now your mind€™s blown. Obviously there€™s the whole sands of time subplot, but when you distill the film down that seems an element tacked onto the existing story. What makes this so clearly The Lion King and not Hamlet is that the only elements brought forward into The Sands Of Time are what the animation did sixteen years previously. So there you have it - eleven film's you didn't realise were just ripping off greatness. Were you shocked by some of these entries? Or are there some you know we didn't feature?
