11 Songs That Were Far Better Than The Movies They Were Made For

7. Live And Let Die - Live And Let Die

Sir Paul’s place in music folklore as the best member of The Beatles is undisputed (there, I said it!). While his work with the Jets generally fell below those lofty heights, the titular track for the first Roger Moore Bond film was one such occasion where he hit gold once more.

The tune starts in a melancholic and reflective manner and it appears that McCartney is effortlessly producing another 007 power ballad. But with one pluck of the strings, McCartney effortlessly brings his rock masterpiece to epic levels with arguably the greatest riff of any song he has ever produced.

Epic however is not a word that can be used for the film of the same name, a mish mash of so so action scenes, camp overacting and lines delivered in the style of a cheap pantomime. The whole thing is just a mess. Roger Moore looked out of his depth for the role with the charm and charisma of Connery replaced with the snobby blandness of Moore.

Worst of all there are strong undertones of Racism present within the script, typified by the film’s ‘comic relief’, a redneck sheriff who says “Boy” a lot. So while Live and Let Die the song lives on in the annals of rock history, the film now lives on in Bond infamy.
