9. Aidan Gillen
Strange doesn't exactly require as much of a physical presence as some of the more muscular members of the Avengers team, and his persona will be far more lead by intellect and ego an approach to characterisation that Gillen is already well-versed in with Game Of Thrones. To date, Gillen's career has been a particularly varied thing, taking in Queer As Folk, The Wire and Game Of Thrones so it's hard to imagine that he wouldn't be up to the requirements of the role. He also has a considerable number of awards to back up those claims, and fits the model established in recent Marvel castings of a well-known, but not exactly starry actor, and his profile post Game Of Thrones means he's one whose star is firmly in the ascendancy. Gillen's serpentine characteristic as Littlefinger might mean imagining him as a typical good guy will be jarring, but it all depends on how Strange is portrayed. It actually makes sense to paint him as a man marked by darkness, whose social skills are perhaps a little unconventional and who would seek the solitude of poor relationships to guard himself - and it is that image of the Sorceror that Gillen might suit best.
