11 Things Batman Vs Superman Absolutely Must Get Right
4. The Public Response To Superman
One of the most criticised aspects of the only movie in the DC Cinematic Universe to date - Man of Steel - was that Superman has already resorted to killing as a means of defeating an opponent. In the case of Man of Steel, it was when General Zod had cornered some civilians and Superman felt he had no other choice but to break his neck to prevent the innocent people being vaporised by the villain's heat vision. The fight that the pair had also decimated large sections of Metropolis and Zod's plans had started to terraform large areas of the Earth. As a result of the killing, the destruction and the fact that other members of his race had threatened to take over the Earth, the public will probably be split in their views of the character. One the one hand, he saved everyone but, on the other, he's also potentially very dangerous. The handling of the public response will be a key component of this movie and DC and Warner Brothers will have to make sure it's done in a way that satisfies audiences i.e. it wouldn't make sense for everyone to hate Superman, but it also wouldn't be right if they weren't wary of him.
