11 Things You Learn Rewatching Moonraker

5. The Action Sequences Are Hilariously Insane

Whatever you might think of Moonraker, you sure as hell can't call it boring. The movie is arguably at its best during its energetic and plentiful action sequences, which are diverse and shamelessly, hilariously over-the-top.

From the infamous "Bondola" sequence - which is a ton of fun save for that awful shot of a pigeon doing a double-take - to the high-wire cable car fight and yes, the climactic space shootout complete with laser rifles, it sure isn't just recycling what came before.

Some may understandably find these set-pieces too ridiculous, but there's a charming visual wit and kinetic appeal to them that really underlines the very best of what Roger Moore's Bond movies aspired to be.

The series will probably never manage to out-crazy that epic space shootout, and that's honestly totally fine. You wouldn't want every Bond movie to be this nuts, but you should still be glad that it exists.
