11 Things You Learn Rewatching The Living Daylights

5. The New Moneypenny & Felix Leiter Fall Totally Flat

As mentioned, the movie recasts some key supporting characters for this new era of Bond, most crucially ditching the legendary Lois Maxwell as Miss Moneypenny and replacing her with 25-year-old Caroline Bliss.

Though undeniably hamstrung by the small nature of the part, Bliss doesn't get to do much more than be an attractive, younger trade-in for the iconic character. Unfortunately there's not much indication here of the charming chemistry that Maxwell and Roger Moore had in the prior films.

And then there's Felix Leiter, who makes his first franchise appearance since 1973's Live and Let Die, with John Terry taking the role over from David Hedison.

Granted, Felix has been recast on a whim many times over the course of the franchise, though Terry's quick scene with Bond demonstrates no natural rapport between himself and Dalton, making his casting a bit of a dud.

Inexplicably, Hedison returned to the role for the next movie, License to Kill, making him the first actor to actually play Felix twice.
