11 Unexpected Actors Who Might Win Oscars In 2019

10. Chris Pine - Outlaw King

The Role: The King of Scots himself, Robert the Bruce, as he attempts to reclaim Scotland after the King of England (Stephen Dillane) declares him an outlaw.

Why He Might Win: Want to win an Oscar? Play an historical figure, especially if it's one that asks you to play hugely against type and physically transform yourself. Chris Pine will be doing all of this in Outlaw King, and reunited with Hell or High Water director David Mackenzie, it'd be surprising if he doesn't give one of the year's most persuasive and intense performances.

Why It's Unexpected: For starters, Pine is generally viewed more as a movie star than a serious actor, even if his recent work is starting to change that perception.

Plus, Outlaw King is being released straight to Netflix later in the year, which while not necessarily a hurdle to Pine receiving a Best Actor nomination, could prevent the stuck-in-the-past Academy from actually giving him the win outright.
