11 Unintentionally Awkward Movie Moments

1. Russell Crowe Sings In Les Misérables

Tom Hooper€™s Les Misérables brings together talented actors like Hugh Jackman, Russell Crowe, Anne Hathaway, Helena Bonham Carter and Eddie Redmayne. And they€™re all singing. All the time. It€™s a blast at first, but it gets old pretty soon. Still, some of the actors have surprisingly good voices, especially Anne Hathaway. In this scene, Inspector Javert, played by Russell Crowe finally finds ex-convict Jean Valjean after having chased him down for years. But when he finds himself unable to kill him because Valjean showed him mercy before, Javert€™s forced to let him go. Reason enough for a Frenchman to jump off a bridge, apparently. And sing an emotional song beforehand. Good or bad awkward? Bad. Once you get over the notion of Russell Crowe singing €“ which keeps you happy for a short while €“ you realise his singing isn€™t really good. Sadly, there€™s only that much a voice coach can do if your voice isn't strong enough for Les Miserables' operatic demands. Most of the times it€™s more like he€™s talking in a rhythmic way instead of singing, like some musical damage control. Yet in his defence, Russell does do a pretty good job at singing when it's complemented with a band and background singers. Check it out below. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nmEIvePW2Vk
