11 Unintentionally Awkward Movie Moments

7. Michelle Williams Tapdances While Ryan Gosling Plays The Ukulele In Blue Valentine

Blue Valentine is one of the least romantic films ever made, and I guess that's the point. It's definitely not a good one for Valentines Day, put it like that. Lowlife guy Dean falls for emotional wreck/floozy Cindy, who also happens to be pregnant. Despite Cindy having another man€™s child, he marries her because he loves her and he wants to help out with the kid. But their marriage is practically doomed because Cindy doesn€™t genuinely love him back or/and is not capable of having a healthy relationship. If you like drama, you're good to go with this one. And the acting is good. In the above scene, Dean and Cindy, are getting to know each other. Dean asks if she wants to dance while he plays the ukulele and sings. He tells her he can€™t sing €“ liar €“ and then goes on playing a sad love song for her. It€™s awkward, €˜cause, well €“ just look at Michelle€™s dancing skills! Good or bad awkward? But.. It's the good kind of awkward. Her dancing skills might be pretty bad, Ryan€™s singing skills on the other hand, are impressive. And you have to admit Michelle looks quite adorable while tap dancing. In fact, this is one of the only scenes in the whole movie where her character, Cindy, is actually likable. And Dean even more so. His suggestion that Cindy dances in front of a marriage store reveals his sensitive and romantic side. The song is also a nice way of preparing the viewers on what€™s to come in the film €“ €œYou always hurt the ones you love.€
