8. Drew Barrymore Is Thrilled A 17-Year-Old Kid Asks Her Out In Never Been Kissed

Drew Barrymore is very good at playing the awkward, shy, intelligent girl who often blurts out things without thinking and then quickly regrets it. And it works. In Never Been Kissed, she plays Josie Geller, a 25-year-old reporter who€™s sent back to high school for a story. In the above scene, Guy, the most popular boy in school, asks her out to prom. At a party by Josie's brother, Rob, Josie goes into her room with Guy. The boy is unaware it's her room because she told him she€™s Rob€™s ex-girlfriend instead of his sister (ew). The first thing Guy says is €œRob€™s sister is a loser,€ judging from the stuff in the room. Josie doesn€™t seem to mind at all that he calls her a loser (Grow a pair, Josie!). And then after Guy asks her out, she lays down euphorically, grinning as if she was just asked out by George Clooney. Or won the jackpot. Good or bad awkward? Just, what the hell? She€™s a grown woman, a 25-year-old with a good career €“ why is she so thrilled about a 17-year-old asking her out? That€™s just wrong. He€™s not even nice. He uses the word €œrufus€, is superficial, arrogant €“ this could be a long, long list. Isn€™t she into that teacher bloke? So she€™s just so thrilled she has a date for prom? Get over not getting a date for your last prom already, it€™s been eight freaking years! So yeah, bad awkward.
