11 Unintentionally Awkward Movie Moments

4. Jessica Alba Talks Like A Porn Star In Sin City

The women in Rodriguez movies are always complete stereotypes: they€™re all strong, sexy, and as eloquent as John McClane and Malcolm Tucker combined. Nevertheless, they're usually not strong enough to save themselves from whatever trouble they get themselves into. And the saving usually happens by a strong, ruthless man. It€™s the whole damsel in distress thing, and it's not going away any time soon. Still, Rodriguez makes some awesome movies and Sin City is great €“ it's poetic, clever, and visually beautiful. But, if you only have minor feminist tendencies, you feel annoyed with some of its scenes. Like this one. Good or bad awkward? Bad awkward, because it's too much of a Rodriguez cliché. Nancy is too good to be true: beautiful, witty, sexy yet innocent, strong yet in the need for saving. And then it also turns out she€™s been lusting for Hartigan all this time. What a man€™s dream. Most heterosexual men watching this, probably go: €œHell yeah!€ A woman's reaction: €œOh com€™ooon, this is just ridiculous€. Maybe it could have worked if Nancy would talk like a normal person. But she talks like a porn actress instead. When she says €œI€™ve lain awake nights thinking of you€ Ron Jeremy starts playing in the back of your head and it's just impossible to keep a straight face. We're one porn groove away from something altogether more disturbing.
