11 Unnecessarily Flamboyant Scenes Wasted In Terrible Movies

10. First-Person Sequence - Doom

The Scene: Near the end of the film, viewers are thrown into a first-person perspective as we follow protagonist Reaper (Karl Urban) fighting his way through a monster-infested facility. The sequence, which consists of a number of lengthy takes, is almost entirely first-person as we witness Reaper kicking a** and taking names. Why It's Unnecessary: There's no point arguing against the technical proficiency of this shot, as well as the fact that it's easily the best part of the movie. However, such a daring feat of filmmaking is almost entirely wasted on an otherwise terrible movie that bombed with critics and audiences, especially those who love the video games. The movie couldn't even get the origins of the beasts right (it was changed from hell to a virus), and yet director Andrzej Bartkowiak actually delivered one visually stunning scene that has nevertheless been almost completely ignored in the near-decade since its release. This sequence must've taken up a huge chunk of the $60 million budget, and yet, as the rest of it sucks so much, it was all for nothing.
