11 Unnecessarily Flamboyant Scenes Wasted In Terrible Movies

5. The Cullens Play Baseball - Twilight

The Scene: Mid-way through all the vampiric lusting, Bella (Kristen Stewart) takes a break to play some fancy baseball-on-steroids with Edward (Robert Pattinson) and his family. Set to Muse's cracking tune Supermassive Black Hole, we're treated to a ludicrously over-the-top montage of the Cullens pitching, hitting, running and flying as they play their game...until some bad dudes show up. Why It's Unnecessary: Because it's two more minutes we have to sit through a Twilight movie, and it does absolutely nothing to move the plot forward. It's also ridiculously over-the-top, with effects-heavy action and abusive use of slow-motion, and crazy crane and pan shots as well. This isn't even an action scene, for God's sake! Why waste so many VFX dollars on a frivolous scene that serves absolutely no purpose? To its credit, the scene pops visually and is more entertaining than most of the scenes in the series that are supposedly "important", but it seems wildly out of place and given its effects-heavy nature, is also totally extravagant.
