The second most anticipated character from this year's next Marvel offering is Groot. Despite the fact that he only ever utters three words in the comics - those being "I am Groot" - his unique tree-like nature and the fact that he will be voiced by superstar Vin Diesel means that a lot of people can't wait to see him in action. The loyal bodyguard of fellow Guardian, Rocket Raccoon, Groot is essentially a giant block of wood who serves as the team's muscle and is otherwise relatively kind and caring. Director James Gunn has stated that Diesel has obsessively perfected this voice role and that he makes every single "I am Groot" seem different, meaningful and heartfelt. Whether or not that turns out to be the case in the eyes (or ears) of the audience come the movie's release remains to be seen, but this ambitious attempt at bringing one of Marvel Comics' weirdest characters to the big screen is something that just about everyone is looking forward to seeing in one way or another.
