4. Doctor Strange

Finally, after years of rumours about the heroic sorcerer's potential appearance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Doctor Strange was name-dropped in Captain America: The Winter Soldier, when S.H.I.E.L.D./HYDRA agent Jasper Sitwell said that "Stephen Strange" was one of HYDRA's many targets as they set about eliminating people deemed powerful enough to pose a threat to the evil organisation's plans for world domination. While no movie is confirmed as such (there's certainly no release date anyway), this essentially serves as proof that Marvel Studios intend to introduce the character to the Marvel Cinematic Universe after Phase 2 of the franchise comes to a close with Avengers: Age of Ultron next year. Doctor Strange is one of Marvel's most popular and enduring characters, having first appeared on panel way back in 1963, and it is only fitting that he gets the same chance in live action that characters like Thor, Iron Man, Hulk and Captain America have been given. He will bring real magic to the Marvel Cinematic Universe for the first time (though we've seen glimpses with Loki et al, Asgardian magic has been deemed to be a form of science, so it will be cool to see an Earth-based sorcerer invoking actual spells and mystical entities) and give the Avengers a new form of attack in times of need.
