Zombie movies are ten a penny, right? Jim Jarmusch's latest outing isn't even the only zombie flick on this list. However, it certainly looks like the film that'll reanimate the genre.

Proving once more that Jarmusch can't be placed in a box, he's moved from his deep, emotionally charged indie darlings like Paterson or Broken Flowers into the realm of slapstick, schlocky zombie comedy; that's precisely what makes The Dead Don't Die so exciting.

Jarmusch doesn't make bland, simple movies. If we take the trailer for The Dead Don't Die at face value, it seems rather simplistic for him, and as such, this first trailer feels deliberately misleading. There's excellent comic timing on display from everyone featured, but you can't help feel that there's got to be something hiding at the heart of this particular zombie apocalypse. Boasting 'the greatest zombie cast ever disassembled' and a delightfully deadpan comedic tone, this has got to be one of the most exciting movies to release in 2019.

Hell, if nothing else, Tilda Swinton with a vaguely Scottish accent slaying Dawn of the Dead-esque zombies with a katana in small-town America is undoubtedly worth the price of admission alone, right?
