7. Hobbs and Shaw - Buddy Cop Movies

It's been a few years since we've seen a truly iconic buddy cop duo, but the first Fast and Furious spin-off seems to want to change that by throwing Luke Hobbs and Deckard Shaw together on a globe-trotting mission. If there's one thing the Fast and Furious franchise does well, it's high-octane action. Hobbs and Shaw promises to be just as explosive.

Set two years after The Fate of the Furious, Hobbs and Shaw forces the two unlikely partners together to take down a cybergenetically-enhanced superhuman (Brixton, played by Idris Elba) who, by all accounts, looks like bad news. The conflicting personalities and self-awareness the trailer shows make this the action film to watch this Summer.

Everything is in place for this to be the ultimate Summer blockbuster; worldwide stakes, massive star power from Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham and, most importantly, the tense relationship between the two special agents. Their "odd couple" feel is massively played up in the trailer, so it seems safe to assume that David Leitch has worked carefully to ensure this is a buddy cop bromance that we're going to remember for some time.
