11 Upcoming Sci-Fi Movies That Could Be Better Than Star Wars: The Force Awakens

2. War For The Planet Of The Apes

Though he€™s now an important player in the Star Wars universe, it€™s best not to forget the other franchise that Andy Serkis is still a part of. The Apes movies have made for a welcome surprise in the world of franchise films and at this point, it€™s now an expectation that the newest entry will live up to the lofty standards of its predecessors. Director Matt Reeves did an amazing job of expanding the scope with Dawn while keeping the focus on Caesar€™s journey. This new film looks to try that approach again, moving from a city-based conflict to an all-out war. The fact that each passing year also helps the technology get better could make for even more stunning effects. Speaking of the effects, one of The Force Awakens's biggest criticisms has been the lackluster motion-capture characters, specifically Maz Kanata and Supreme Leader Snoke. Having a great story is one thing, but visually selling it is another, and Apes has already proved adept and doing both. There€™s barely a cast, there€™s no information about the plot or the setting, but just on the strength of the first two movies alone, it€™s impossible to count out War For The Planet Of The Apes as being anything short of brilliant.
