It might be a bold move and a massive opportunity to be bitten on the backside, but setting up an immediate sequel is one of the most confident moves Warner Bros could possibly go with. And the easiest way to do that is to have Amanda Waller - still nefarious and scheming - setting up another mission with the remaining members having deemed the first one a success.

After all, she's looking for a win by any means, and you'd have to think that's what's going to happen. And of course, she's going to need new blood to fill the empty slots.

The Hints

A sequel has actually been hinted at, and while Warner Bros apparently need a LOT of money for Suicide Squad to be considered a financial success ($800m probably), they did seem to have confidence enough to discuss it with David Ayer (as he revealed in an interview with The Wrap).

That means new meat will be required: even if they don't all die, the team will need freshening up, just as the Guardians Of The Galaxy have been for the sequel. And to avoid that call for fresh meat would be ill-advised at best when Warner Bros need to imply that their DC Universe has infinite scope for adaptation. Whether it actually happens in Suicide Squad itself remains to be seen.
