12 Actors Who Admitted Doing A Movie Purely For The Money

10. Sean Connery - James Bond (Diamonds Are Forever)

Connery was sick to death of Bond by the time he made You Only Live Twice; he€™d grown to hate the character and didn€™t feel that he was being fairly compensated for making it a success. He quit and George Lazenby was wheeled in as a replacement, but he left after only one entry. The producers failed to find a suitable replacement for Diamonds Are Forever, and felt that it could only be successful if Connery came back. As they told him money was no object he snagged himself a sweet deal; he was paid a then record $1 million fee plus the studio offered to finance two movies of his choice. To Connery€™s credit it wasn€™t a decision entirely motivated by greed; he used the money to establish an Education Trust for Scottish artists. The money didn€™t light any fire in his performance though, as Diamonds Are Forever is regularly cited as his worst Bond movie. He looks out of shape, his wig is distractingly bad and he couldn€™t look any less enthused about reprising the role if he tried.

Handsome. Charismatic. Intelligent. Noble. Witty. I'm none of these things, but I'm a half decent writer, I guess.
