Olivia Wilde has enjoyed some box office success over the years, though it's mostly been in supporting roles for movies that were absolutely not sold on her name: The Next Three Days, Tron: Legacy (a franchise film), In Time, The Words, Rush and Her. Not a single one of these movies promoted itself heavily on Wilde's involvement, and for the most part (Tron and Rush excluded), they were pretty small parts. As for the flops? The Girl Next Door, Alpha Dog, Turistas, The Death and Life of Bobby Z, Fix, Year One, Cowboys & Aliens (her biggest flop to date), The Change-Up, On the Inside, Butter, Deadfall, People Like Us, The Incredible Burt Wonderstone, Drinking Buddies, Third Person and Better Living Through Chemistry. Now, excuse us while we grab our inhalers... Why Is She A Flop? This is a really tough one. Wilde is beautiful, frequently hilarious and a good actress to boot. She clearly has a preference for indie films which doesn't help her box office stature at all, though luckily for her, even most of her flops weren't sold on her name, so she's able to get out with her name and integrity in tact. Still, it's not exactly encouraging, and makes it less likely that she will be offered lead work in the future. A career of mostly supporting roles seems likely.
