12 Annoying Fanboy Complaints That Drive Everyone Insane

10. "That Sequel/Remake/Reboot Has No Reason To Exist & Tarnishes The Original"

The Complaint: "That sequel/remake/reboot/re-imagining/re-tooling of a classic movie has literally no reason to exist. There is no possible way to explain its existence: why would studios ever want to trample over fans' love for the original with a new one? All it does is instantly destroy the brilliance of what came before." Why It's Annoying: Because there is one very obvious reason for any movie to exist: money. Movie studios aren't your friends, they're not making all these Marvel and Star Wars films for the sheer joy of it, but they do happen to have excellent PR teams who tirelessly sell the idea that this is for the fans above all else, which it obviously isn't. At the end of the day, anyone who buys a movie ticket is a commodity, a number on a spreadsheet to studios and not a whole lot else. It's naive to assume anything else, and to somehow not appreciate the economy of filmmaking. The belief that a bad sequel or remake can in any way diminish what came before is also pretty childish: if you don't like it, just pretend it doesn't exist, like most people do with, say, the Terminator sequels.
