12 Annoying Fanboy Complaints That Drive Everyone Insane

9. "Feminism Is Killing Our Precious Franchises"

The Complaint: "What's with all these strong female characters being shoved into manly action movies? They're always token characters just trying to appeal to women, and they aren't what I paid my ticket price to see. I came here with the promise of explosions, and I got feminist propaganda." Why It's Annoying: This one's just plain idiotic, and focused at one recent film in particular: Mad Max: Fury Road. George Miller's action masterpiece just happened to feature believable, likeable female characters who passed the Bechdel test with flying colours, and for some reason this grated on some fans who felt misled that the film wasn't just Tom Hardy blowing up cars for 2 hours. The film is certainly better for its female presence, which by simply depicting women in a democratic manner on screen, appears to have become "feminist" by default. The film certainly isn't propaganda, and if it serves to show other filmmakers how to create superb female characters without diminishing the men, then that's no bad thing at all. Take your sexist agendas elsewhere, boys.
