2. The Cloverfield Paradox Gets A Surprise Release
In what's probably the most shocking trailer reveal in the history of the Super Bowl, Netflix aired a TV spot early in the game which revealed the rumours to be true: they have acquired the third Cloverfield movie from Netflix, titled The Cloverfield Paradox, and what's more, it was released the second the game finished.
While it's a shame the final product wasn't better, it's still a potentially game-changing move for the streaming giant, shifting the means through which movies can be delivered to audiences.
It'll ultimately remain to be seen how many people actually tuned in to watch the film after the Super Bowl, but considering the 100-plus million Americans who saw the commercial alone, it's hard to imagine this not translating to success, regardless of how the reviews panned out.
