12 Awful 2015 Horror Movies To Avoid This Halloween

5. I Spit On Your Grave III: Vengeance Is Mine

On one hand, it's great to see Sarah Butler, the lead actress from the first movie, returning to this franchise, considering she was easily the stand-out aspect of the original, but on the other hand, why the hell is there an I Spit on Your Grave franchise in the first place? Even ignoring the film's blatantly irresponsible attitude to and depiction of rape victims, number three certainly ain't the charm. Arguably a step-up from the previous one because it's got actual character development and a protagonist audiences are familiar with, the film will nevertheless disappoint those expecting another gore fest, as it mistakenly believes that its plot and characters are decidedly more interesting than they actually are. Any commentary the movie wants to make on the nature of revenge falls on deaf ears because it's so heavy-handed, and overall it just feels like a bizarre direction in which to take a series that's always been about a basic, visceral, cathartic thrill. Butler deserves better, that's for sure.
