12 Awful Films MCU Actors Want You To Forget

6. Scarlett Johannson - The Spirit

Another appearance for poor ScarJo, and another comic book adaptation to boot. The source material for this one is a little more esoteric than the likes of Avengers Assemble, however, and its performance at the box office proves the movie itself wasn’t much better at winning over a mainstream audience.

Adapted from the Frank Miller comic of the same name,The Spirit was an attempt to revive the old-fashioned black and white stylized pre-superhero comics which inspired the likes of Sin City—except, thanks to its sanitized PG-13 rating, without any of the former film’s gore, sex, profanity, or anything else which made it enjoyable. The film flopped hard, disappointing critics and audiences alike and assuring that Miller’s brief run of successes came to a swift end.

Johansson appears as the swatstika-sporting assistant of Samuel L. Jackson’s over-acted antagonist, and beyond providing the film with a dose of eye candy, there’s little for her to do with her screen time other than look vaguely, and understandably, embarrassed by the material.

Cathal Gunning hasn't written a bio just yet, but if they had... it would appear here.
