12 Awful Movie Make-Up Fails That Were Horribly Distracting
12. Winona Ryder - Edward Scissorhands
The Desired Effect: Reflective Old Lady. The Actual Effect: Team America puppet. Having an old lady look back fondly at her young life and love is a staple part of a certain type of sacharine cinema, and a sure fire way to make everyone misty-eyed, which is presumably what Tim Burton was aiming for, so that noone saw how ridiculous Winona Ryder as an old lady looked in Edward Scissorhands. She also scores double points for her fine "frail old lady voice" that was clearly learnt at the same school that Lea Thompson went to for Back To The Future, because all old women sound like they're just about to cry. Obviously.
