12 AWFUL Sequels That Made More Money Than Blade Runner 2049

4. Terminator Genisys

Box Office: $440.6 million

The fifth Terminator film may have been a commercial dud domestically, grossing just $89.7 million in North America, but it was effectively "saved" from being a total bust thanks to its incredible $113.2 million gross in China, making it the first Hollywood film to earn more than $100 million in the country while failing to gross it back home.

Though all of the Terminator sequels have decisively outgrossed Blade Runner 2049, Genisys is the one truly terrible sequel, which made it abundantly clear just how out-of-ideas this franchise is.

Even a returning Arnold Schwarzenegger couldn't do much to elevate a needlessly complicated, oddly boring and badly-shot nostalgia-fest which lazily rehashed the series' most iconic moments.

Emilia Clarke is also somehow worse than Jai Courtney in it, which is really saying something.
