12 Bad-Ass DC Movie Scenes That We Almost Got To See
4. What The Joker Did Next - The Dark Knight Rises
When Heath Ledger died, with his Joker still very much alive and locked away, the question of how The Dark Knight's original sequel would have dealt with him became a particularly pressing issue. The Joker on trial sequence - as already discussed - was slightly wrong, but it would be wrong to think that Christopher Nolan would simply have left him as an unresolved plot-point, particularly when The Scarecrow returned for the trilogy ender.
And of course, there was talk that Nolan's work with Ledger led to a close friendship, as well as a major appreciation from the director of what Ledger did with the Joker. There's no way he wouldn't have returned.
Even without a specific shape of a plot, it feels like we were robbed of more of Ledger's Joker in that final film, which could and should have been shaped completely differently by his presence.
