Over the course of the MCU, Marvel Studios has introduced a simply epic number of characters. From the biggest household names in comics like Spider-Man and Captain America, to the more obscure Ant-Man and Guardians of the Galaxy, there are literally too many to count. However, there are still plenty that are yet to make their debut.

One such hero is Nova, one of the most popular cosmic characters in the comics. There was a time when Richard Rider was set to appear in Infinity War, but was ultimately cut as the writers thought it would be one character too many.

In the Infinity Gauntlet comic arc, there is a scene in which the Silver Surfer crashes through the Sanctum Sanctorum delivering word of Thanos. This role was ultimately taken by Bruce Banner, but it could have been Nova. This version of the script would have seen Rider as the sole survivor of Thanos’ attack on Xandar in search of the Power Stone.

Instead, the battle took place off screen, and Nova was ultimately written out of the movie. Though the character will inevitably be brought into the MCU at some point, it’s hard to imagine a better introduction than the destruction of his home.
