12 Bafflingly High 2016 IMDb Scores You Will Not Believe
7. Me Before You
IMDb Rating: 7.5
Like big budget comic book movies or gory horror flicks, there’s always room for a gooey romantic drama in a film fan’s diet. Me Before You ticks all the required boxes, with a plucky young woman falling in love with a paralysed banker, and they both teach each other about love, life and stuff.
Despite good performances it tries to tug on the heartstrings way too hard, and the banker’s decision to commit assisted suicide in the finale saw the film face a backlash from disability activists; apparently sending the message a disabled person is better off “freeing” their loved ones of their burden of looking after them isn’t super positive.
The film did well financially, but in another sign that critics and viewers aren’t in total sync, the film earned 7.5 on IMDb but received mostly negative reviews.
