12 Bafflingly High 2016 IMDb Scores You Will Not Believe
8. Inferno
IMDb Rating: 6.3
Since modern Hollywood is built on sequels and franchises, it honestly feels like some projects get a greenlight simply because the original didn’t bomb. That extends to series where fan interest has long since died, which Independence Day: Resurgence learned the hard way in 2016.
Inferno didn’t fare much better, coming out years after the Dan Brown craze fizzled out, once people realised his convoluted books made for terrible movies. Inferno indeed made for a bad movie, with Tom Hanks following a trail of clues towards a doomsday weapon, and looking bored, tired and a little sad whilst doing it.
Some generous critics gave it a middle of the road rating and its current IMDb ranking – 6.3 – is pretty good for a god-awful, thrill-free thriller that everyone phoned in.
