12 Best Black Comedy Movies Of All Time
9. Heathers (1998)
We've all got that friend who takes it that one step further, that friend who goes darker than the rest of us. That one friend who frightens us a little bit because we never know if they are being serious or not. Heathers is the equivalent of that friend, we don't know if they are just joking, or if they are just plain nuts.
The movie centers around Veronica (Winona Ryder) who is struggling to navigate her way through that jungle that is called high school. In a strategic move, Veronica befriends the 3 most popular girls in school, who are all coincidentally called Heather. The Heathers aren't exactly the nicest girls in the world (think Means Girls on steroids) leading Veronica to disapprove of their cruel behavior. Veronica then meets J.D (Christian Slater) who also hates the Heathers, along with a number of other people in the school. So what do they do? Kill everybody of course.
Heathers is a wonderful satirical account of high school life, it might be exaggerated a little, but surely we've all had that brief daydream involving the demise of the most popular person at school? These days, the movie might be a little dark for some, especially with countless school shootings, and violent frat parties.
But what is a black comedy without touching on the truth?
