3. The "Monsters" Are Actually Angels - Bird Box
Netflix's hit post-apocalyptic thriller takes a mercifully restrained approach to its antagonists, a fleet of supernatural beings which force humans to commit suicide if they gaze upon the creatures.
The entities aren't ever seen during the movie - though scenes were shot and later cut featuring them - prompting wild speculation about not only what they look like, but also their true motivations.
One of the more popular theories is that the creatures are demons ripped straight from the bible, but an altogether more plausible one goes in the opposite direction - what if they're angels instead?
The theory posits that Bird Box effectively depicts the Christian rapture, with the beings convincing humans who see them to end their lives on Earth and cross over to Heaven.
This is backed up by a few aspects of the film, namely the "victims" all looking up at the sky to the creatures and deeming them beautiful (as you would angels), and the afflicted often hearing or seeing dead loved ones shortly before killing themselves.
There are a few logical hurdles to this one - namely the paradox of God effectively encouraging people to commit suicide - but the weirdly, eerily serene nature of the creatures certainly doesn't make them sound like demons.
