There are so many theories about what the end of Avengers: Infinity War means for the upcoming Avengers: Endgame, but perhaps the most compelling of all is this agreeably bats*** one.

The theory suggests that the single possible victory against Thanos (Josh Brolin) envisioned by Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) involved him casting a time loop spell on the Eye of Agamotto before surrendering it for Thanos.

This would eventually cause time to loop back around to moments before the snap, giving The Avengers a single opportunity to time travel outside of the loop - as presumably mastered by Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) - travel to the past and steal the Infinity Stones to build a new gauntlet.

Thanos is then forced to chase the Avengers through time, as each side tries to avoid altering history more than is necessary. When the time loop finally reconciles itself again, it's an Infinity Gauntlet-totting Avengers line-up vs. The Mad Titan for all the glory.

It's possible this is just a little too complex for a movie hoping to break box office records, but whether it's true or not, it's one hell of a compelling theory.
