12 Best Movies Starring The Simpsons Actors
8. Gross Pointe Blank
Another Hank Azaria starring film here in this deliciously dark comedy lead by John Cusack in career best form. The story follows Cusack's Martin Blank, a hitman who attends his high school reunion in his hometown of Gross Pointe, where he reconnects with an old flame. His professional and personal life soon become interconnected when he is pursued by a fellow assassin and unprofessional NSA agents, one of who, is played by Azaria.
There are some delicious plot twists along the way and a stack of hilarious cameos from a wonderful ensemble case. Dan Aykroyd gives his best comedic performance in years as a fellow assassin who is trying to set up a union, which Blank refuses 'point blank'.
The romantic comedy aspects of the script featuring Blank and Minnie Driver's Debi utilise the standard traits of the genre, but the occasional murder at the hands of our protagonist assassin is always not far away to interrupt the budding romance.
A late twist involving Blank realising that someone he knows in Grosse Point is meant to be his next target sets up a hilariously brutal final shootout, with half the cast being taken down in the space it takes for Blank to state his undying love for Debi.
It's a very fun and utterly hilarious film that is highly recommended.
