After being involved in a serious car accident, Lucy wakes up every morning thinking it's October 13th. To prevent her from reliving the emotional pain of that day, Lucy's family works hard to convince her that it's still October 13th.

Cue scenes of Lucy re-reading the same newspaper, re-watching the same Vikings game and many more of the standard jokes one would expect from this Groundhog style set-up. Sure, 50 First Dates is an Adam Sandler movie and therefore contains moments of childish humour, but like The Wedding Singer before it, this Sandler/Barrymore reunion also features some surprisingly heartfelt moments.
