After Taika Waititi injected the Thor franchise with some much needed energy, his follow-up couldn’t have been more disappointing. Love and Thunder is genuinely a bottom-five MCU movie, and seemingly did its best to destroy the franchise and the character himself.
However, Chris Hemsworth has been around in the MCU for over a decade at this point. Fans loved Thor throughout The Dark World, and they will love him through Love and Thunder. He was one of the greatest characters in both Infinity War and Endgame, and is nothing short of a Marvel legend.
Though there may have been questions about the God of Thunder’s return, with several of the original Avengers taking their leave of the franchise, Love and Thunder confirmed that he would return. He is a guaranteed participant in Secret Wars, but that doesn’t mean that’s when we will next see him.
The way Love and Thunder finished, with Jane and Heimdall given a path to return in Valhalla, with Thor as a new father, and with Hercules seemingly on the warpath, there may be enough story to bridge into a fifth Thor movie in Phase Six. That, and the fact that Love and Thunder still made over $700 million means it’s a very real possibility indeed.
