12 Biggest MCU Characters Without A Confirmed Return Date

4. Bruce Banner

Thor Love and Thunder
Marvel Studios

It has been 14 years since the Incredible Hulk had his own solo movie, and for the longest time it seemed that a sequel was impossible. Rights issues and the evolution of the character himself seemed to suggest that he would remain a supporting player in other franchises moving forward.

The most recent of these was in She-Hulk: Attorney at Law. The fact that Marvel introduced a She-Hulk at all caused fans to believe Bruce Banner was being phased out of the MCU, in the same way Sam Wilson, Yelena, Kate Bishop, and potentially Ironheart may be stepping into the shoes of their original Avenger counterparts.

However, in the second episode of She-Hulk, Bruce was given a surprising development in that he was seen leaving Earth on a trip seemingly bound for Sakaar. It would be impossible for Marvel Studios not to follow up on this tease, otherwise there was literally no reason for including it in the series.

Could this be a tease for the real World War Hulk adaptation? The story would have to change a fair amount to fit in the confines of a Smart Hulk in the MCU, but it’s possible. It certainly seems more likely than Bruce either having no further involvement in the franchise moving forward, or returning in Secret Wars or The Kang Dynasty with no explanation as to where he went.
