12 Biggest MCU Characters Without A Confirmed Return Date

5. Deadpool

Thor Love and Thunder
20th Century Studios

Is this entry cheating at all? Arguably so, as Deadpool isn’t technically an MCU character yet. However, despite the fact that he was omitted completely from both Comic Con and D23, we know that he is coming, we just don’t know when.

The production of Deadpool 3 is already underway, with Ryan Reynolds of course returning, while also penning the script along with the Molyneux sisters. However, there’s no guarantee that he will even be debuting in the MCU before Secret Wars, and even so, who is to say that his solo movie will be his first appearance?

Look at Black Panther and Spider-Man. Neither had their own solo MCU movie until they had appeared in Captain America: Civil War, and both their franchises and the characters themselves benefitted from it. Deadpool could do exactly the same thing.

Though not exactly necessary, as he is already an established character and his fourth wall-breaking ways could literally explain directly to the camera how he is jumping from Fox to Marvel, why not bring him in earlier? If Marvel didn’t want to go down the meta-joke route of introduction, he could always debut in Doctor Strange 3, or even Secret Wars itself to connect his former and new universes.
