3. How Long?

It's not as big as whole character changes or flying droids, but there's a fairly big retcon in the series that fundamentally changed the very nature of the Old Republic.

In Episode IV, Kenobi says that the Old Republic has existed for a thousand generations, which the now not-canon Expanded Universe interpreted as meaning 25,000 years. That would make sense since Kenobi very much didn't say thousand years.

But that changed in Episode II, when Sensator Palpatine said that the Republic had "stood for a thousand years". That's a fairly big change.
