9. Why Did Zod Want His People To Become Normal? - Man Of Steel

Joker Scars Dark Knight
Warner Bros.

Michael Shannon's Zod was a great addition to Man Of Steel: his personal ties to Kal-El and his investment in the fate of his people made for a good point of conflict with Clark's nurtured protective instinct to Earth.

Unfortunately though, Zod's major plan to secure the future for his people (how very White Supremacist of him), hinges on a fairly ridiculous oversight. As a genetically modified super-soldier with a team of similarly developed underlings charged with protecting their people chiefly because of their anatomical suitability to the task, you'd think he would relish the added power afforded by Earth's yellow sun and reduced gravity.

In fact, you'd think he'd realise that his entire people would benefit massively by the kind of super-powers they'd possess on Earth if he managed to bring them back using the Codex. So why he wants to terraform the planet and remove at least one of the pillars to making hsi people "like Gods" to paraphrase Jor-El is anyone's guess? Maybe he's not all that committed to the idea of genetic superiority after all...?
