The Theory: An imaginative Redditor came up with the highly entertaining theory that maybe, just maybe, Ant-Man and the Wasp takes place during the same time as Avengers: Infinity War, replaying numerous sequences from a different, smaller perspective, where audiences had no idea the titular heroes were even present.

Why It Can't Be True: It's a cute idea, but given that the movie's synopsis mentions that it takes place after Captain America: Civil War, the clear implication is that it will happen before Infinity War.

Plus, contextualising too much of the movie within another film will hurt its rewatch value substantially, especially if like its predecessor it's trying to be a largely standalone adventure.

But..What If?: Rumours suggest that Ant-Man doesn't have a particularly significant role in Infinity War, and this would be a pretty hilarious way to explain why.

Plus, with the movie releasing just two months after Infinity War, the epic team-up against Thanos would still be fresh in audience's minds, ensuring that a cheeky remix of many of its key events would have huge comedic potential.
