6. Aragorn Breaks His Toe - Lord Of The Rings

In The Lord of The Rings: The Two Towers, we see confirmation of the real bond between the Fellowship of the Ring as they're split up and Gimli, Aragorn and Legolas believe that Pippin and Merry have been slaughtered and burnt. Their reactions are perfectly pitched, particularly Aragorn's as he erupts in pained anguish.

His response wasn't quite limited to his character's feelings though, as Viggo Mortensen foolishly chose to kick a helmet (something he had to do over five takes), which proved too heavy for his feet, and broke one of his toes. The pain and scream were so impressive to Peter Jackson that he decided they had to go in the final film.
