12 Cancelled Sci-Fi Moves We Wish We Could Have Seen

1. Ghostbusters 3: Hellbent

Before we start a war in the comments, it’s fair to say that 2016’s Ghostbusters reboot was not a success, critically and commercially, and the future of the franchise remains in question as the release date of this year’s second reboot, Ghostbusters: Afterlife, fast approaches.

But regardless of how the instalment fares, there’s no denying that Dan Aykroyd’s vision for the third Ghostbusters film sounds incredible. Set in Hell—yes, really—the film would have taken the titular paranormal management crew to a 3D animated alternate dimension located in the underworld, where property mogul/ Donald Trump parody Lou Siffler, a.k.a Lucifer, a.k.a the devil himself, would have been their latest nemesis.

Studios balked at the scale of Aykroyd’s ambition for so long that eventually one of the central quartet tragically passed away, meaning we’ll never see this wild vision realized onscreen.
