12 Castings For New Movies That Prove Hollywood Has Gone Insane

7. Ray Fisher - Batman V Superman

Hugh Jackman was famously cast as Wolverine after impressing in Oklahoma, but he at least had some TV work behind him: Ray Fisher - the DC cinematic universe's new Cyborg - has significantly less on his CV even than the Australian.

To say his casting has come out of the blue is no small understatement, though Fisher was a front-runner to play John Boyega's role in Star Wars VII. It just feels odd that an actor just starting out would be cast in a role like Cyborg.

Will It Work?

It's entirely impossible to predict.

Fisher has picked up plaudits for his stage work - including playing Muhammad Ali in Fetch Clay, Make Man - but there's very little to suggest that he's been picked based on a track record.

That might not be the worst thing, however, as a clean slate means nobody can pull the same unnecessary criticism that has met Jason Momoa's casting as Aquaman.
