12 Characters Who Will Probably Die In 2015’s Biggest Movies

4. The Terminator - Terminator: Genisys

If Genisys runs anywhere under 3 hours it will be a miracle: the film has an awful lot of strands to deal with, including three different timelines and there are a number of new characters who imply that it's going to be a jam-packed affair. One theme that will undoubtedly be explored, thanks in part to the narrative gimmick of having the Terminator's physical appearance changing thanks to age, is death and becoming obsolete. As well as the time travel and the Armageddon plots, it would be useful to imagine Genisys as a displaced Western film from the last days of the genre (before revisionists and revivalists came along): Arnie is playing the old gunman on his last legs, obsolete not just because of his age but because he's been replaced (an allegory for the actor's career in fact). The inevitable conclusion then - especially because having a Terminator for hire would be too much of an advantage in bringing down Skynet - is that the iconic character will finally be retired.
