12 Comic Book Film Adaptations Stuck In Development Hell
9. The Invisibles
There are those (in accordance with Grant Morrison's belief) that would argue we've already seen an Invisibles adaptation back in 1999 when The Matrix first appeared in cinemas. The similarities between the properties are undeniable, and Morrison himself stated that he wouldn't want to see an Invisibles film recreate the shared elements that have already been sufficiently covered by The Matrix. However this hasn't stopped talk of developing the seminal series in other ways. Morrison has suggested he would like to see a videogame adaptation one day, and BBC Scotland were said to be collaborating with him on a TV adaptation as far back as 1995. In many respects it is easy to understand why a subversive, complex work like The Invisibles hasn't yet been made, but it also in the pantheon of highly influential 80s and 90s books that have left an indelible print on how comics have progressed since. In this regard there may always be creators who would wish to take a stab at the property, meaning it could one day bust its way out of development hell.
As well as the odd article, I apply my "special mind" to scriptwriting for Comics, Films and Games... Oh and I cut down trees, I skip and jump, I like to press wild flow'rs, I put on women's clothing, and hang around in bars.
