12 Comic Book Movie Characters Screwed By Their Adaptation
9. Catwoman (Catwoman)
Holy Mary mother of God - this was despicable. In this movie, Catwoman was Patience Phillips - an artist and graphic designer who works for a cosmetics company called Hedare Beauty. Phillips discovers the nasty side effects of a skin cream that the company is working on and is disposed of down a pipe and drowns before being washed up on a nearby shore. She is mysteriously brought back to life by an Egyptian Mau cat, which had appeared at her apartment earlier - from that point onwards, she developed cat-like abilities and swore vengeance on those involved in the production of the aforementioned skin cream and those who had her killed. This is a far cry from the villain-turned-anti-hero in the comic books who is nothing more than a very skilled, highly combat-adept human woman who likes to steal things. You have to wonder what was going through writers' heads when they made the kind of decisions that led to this movie being made. The adaptation of the lead character was so unrecognisable from the comic book character of the same name that it was basically an entirely unrelated movie.
